Made in CA recently conducted an interview with Matthieu Moffet, President of Mofco, exploring the company’s challenges and successes. Tell us about yourself?
I’ve always had a deep passion for technology. From an early age, I was convinced that my future lay in this field. However, my path has not been traditional. During my teenage years, I found that the conventional school environment didn’t suit me, which led me to leave formal education early. My journey then took a turn when I completed a training program at Herzing College, which marked the beginning of my unique path in the IT sector.
Despite my different life experiences compared to many of my colleagues, I continued to pursue my career in IT. I’ve always felt somewhat out of place as an employee, harboring a deep desire to start my own business. This aspiration led to the founding of Mofco in 2015, with the aim of serving businesses in Quebec. My philosophy has always been to be a reliable and competent technology partner for our customers, a principle that has guided every decision we make at Mofco.
My journey is a testament to the idea that non-traditional paths can lead to success and fulfillment. It is this belief and commitment to our values that drives Mofco’s mission to provide high quality technological services to our customers.
If you could go back in time a year or two, what advice would you give yourself?
If I could go back in time, I’d advise myself to invest time in the pursuit of higher education. Although I compensated for this by being an assiduous, self-taught reader, I sometimes regret not having experienced the formative years of college and university. I also realized the importance of listening to your instincts. He’s always there, subtly guiding us in our decision-making. Learning to really listen and trust your instincts is a skill that takes time to develop. This advice would have been invaluable to me; I’m convinced that education and intuition are both crucial in shaping a successful and fulfilling career.

On the business front, we are in acquisition mode, actively seeking out various opportunities. We are confident that our company will grow to over 50 employees within this timeframe. Our aim is to broaden our reach and impact, ensuring that we remain a leading force in IT solutions and services, constantly innovating and adapting to evolving business needs.
What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?
The biggest challenge we’ve faced so far has been the shortage of manpower. However, we overcame this obstacle by leveraging the high quality of our benefits and the excellence of our management team. These factors made it possible for us to complete all planned recruitments, even in the face of a difficult job market. This experience has demonstrated our resilience and the attractiveness of our company as an employer in the IT sector.
